Discipline and curiosity, pointed at technology that helps people.

About

I'm Tharindu Nallaperuma, based in the Houston area. My work started in visual storytelling — photography, film, SEO, and digital media — where I learned to pay close attention: to light, to composition, and to what a piece of communication is actually for.

I served in the U.S. Navy, which shaped how I approach responsibility, discipline, and working as part of something larger than myself.

More recently, my curiosity has moved toward applied AI and practical systems. I'm a self-directed learner by habit, and I'm drawn to problem-solving that's concrete and useful — building tools and studying systems rather than only reading about them. On the Projects page, I share examples of how I've been using AI as a research and systems-building partner.

What I care about most is direction. I want to use AI and practical tools to help people, small organizations, and communities work through real problems. I haven't done formal nonprofit work yet — this is a sincere direction I'm growing toward, not a track record I'm claiming.

I'm currently completing a B.S. in Software Development at the California Institute of Arts & Technology, which gives some structure to the self-teaching.

I also read philosophy fairly seriously, especially Neoplatonism and Stoicism. It isn't a professional focus, but it shapes how I think about responsibility, inner order, clarity, and using technology in service of the common good.

Examples of the recent work live on the Projects page.
